Welcome to the VentoNatcher UBC Pre-Law Association Presidential Campaign Page

We are excited to introduce our candidacy for the UBC Pre-Law Association Presidency and Vice Presidency.

Since then, he’s worked in the Office of the Supreme Court Clerk of Rhode Island, where he directly reported to the Bar Administrator of the state. Presently, he’s employed as a Junior Legal Assistant in a family and estate litigation law firm located in downtown Vancouver…

Vice Presidency - John Natcher

John developed a passion for law when he joined the UBC Pre Law Association executive team. He participated in the 2024 Moot Court Competition this year…Prior to joining the UBC Pre Law Association, he worked with the Arctic’s Council’s Sustainable Development Working Group with the University of Saskatchewan…

What We’ve Accomplished

We…

  1. Created and released the UBC Pre Law Association’s first-ever Undergraduate Opportunity Directory to help our members find internship, job, and volunteer opportunities related to their legal careers.

  2. Scheduled 3 firm visits AND 3 court visits (which we brought back this year).

  3. Collaborated with AMS Tutoring to give Pre Law students FREE drop-in LSAT tutoring for the first time at UBC.

  4. Brought back UBC Pre Law Association monthly newsletters.

  5. Helped with event preparation for our famous Wine and Cheese Night, in which we proudly procured $1,600 in sponsorship funding.

  6. Curated and continued our partnerships through events with Apollo Test Prep, Apply Yourself, The Princeton Review, and OzTrekk.

  7. Worked towards the creation of a new event, Taste of Law, in which we invited 8 legal professionals to discuss an intricate and detailed task that each professional does regularly.

  8. Prepared the room bookings for most of our events.

  9. Prepared the professional contact lists for most of our events.

  10. Are preparing a Mentorship Program with the help of the External Project Developer and Executive Assistants for next year.

  11. Are preparing Mock Trials with the help of the External Project Developer and Executive Assistants for next year.

What We Plan To Do

Expansion

  • Expansion of the External team, particularly the build-up of our Undergraduate Opportunity Directory so that we can continue adding firms and workplaces.

  • Execution of our planned mentorship program.

  • Execution of our planned and drafted UBC Pre-Law Mock Trial Guide.

  • More roles for students in our Mock Trial team. A Mock Trial team could help with preparations for our first UBC Pre-Law Mock Trial next year.

Outreach

  • Be present and booth at Imagine Day, Fall Clubs Week, and Spring Clubs Week (this year we only did Fall Clubs Week).

  • Push for the update of the website immediately with new executive photos and information.

  • Create a written spotlight submission and publication system for pre-law member essays submitted to the team and published on our website to get our members and those who receive our newsletters engaged.

  • Become the most followed pre-law association in Canada on Instagram (we’re only a 100 followers behind U of T’s Pre-Law Instagram)!!! This will inevitably also help us in procuring promising deals with sponsors (if we have the best outreach in the country).

Accountability

  • Relay the responsibilities of each electable position to each elected individual for clear communication of everyone’s roles.

  • Return to in-person or semi-in-person meetings for greater companionship among the executive team.
